Words to live by...

"How beautiful it is to do nothing, and to rest afterward."

[Spanish Proverb]

Ius luxuriae publice datum est

(The right to looseness has been officially given)

"Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders," wrote Ludwig von Mises, "no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. Therefore everyone, in his own interest, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle."

Apparently, the crossword puzzle that disappeared from the blog, came back.

My Life May As Well Be Over

I have had to give up playing golf. Something is wrong with me that's affecting my balance and it has become impossible to play the game. Hopefully, my doctor can figure out the problem and get me the needed treatment.

I suspect it is an inner ear problem but I do not know that for sure. I have been confused and addled more lately than I have ever been, leading me to consider the problem may be neurological.

Say it isn't so! Hope your doctor can figure it out and get you back on the course before long.

Thanks, Tom, when we met the first time, I was a 14 handicap... now I'm around 30.

Rough. I can't play hockey or soccer or pick up football anymore because of my knees. Same with baseball. Check that. I *could* play but who wants to get hurt? And if I can't play hard what's the point? So I run and cycle while looking out for a parnter to play tennis again. I have an inner ear imbalance and Meniere's Disease - which will be confirmed by an MRI in the upcoming weeks. It may be the cause of my migraines (even vertigo) and symptoms you describe. It's a bitch because it disrupts any training or routines I have. Good luck.

T.C., that is tough about the Meniere's. I have eliminated Meniere's for me because the problems Meniere's causes usually go away in a few days (only to return again). Whatever is causing this has been constant and worsening for the past 3 or so years.

I notice ear imbalances - if that's what is found to be your problem or issue - progressively get worse if left untreated. The persistent 'sea shell' sound in my ear as a sleep is especially problematic and annoying. Steroid shots into the ear is my only option. This right ear has been a pain in the ass ever since I was a kid. I used to be a really strong swimmer but that too has been impacted because the water doesn't drain well.

T.C., That seems to fit with my problem, it has been about 3 years since I last played well (with the occasional bright spot)but, overall, it's been a general downslide. Sorry to hear about your problems... mine are also accompanied by a rising mental fog which is making it hard to concentrate. My brother used to get earaches after swimming because his ears didn't drain well and I have tinnitus which I (and the VA) attribute to my Navy service.

Dude.

We're *old*.

Though I'm quite adept at immaturity.

My MRI is tomorrow morning.
