Words to live by...

"How beautiful it is to do nothing, and to rest afterward."

[Spanish Proverb]

Ius luxuriae publice datum est

(The right to looseness has been officially given)

"Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders," wrote Ludwig von Mises, "no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. Therefore everyone, in his own interest, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle."

Apparently, the crossword puzzle that disappeared from the blog, came back.

I don't know but I know it won't help or resolve the problems we face.

It keeps a lot of people employed to delay it.

Hektik, no memorial ever did. Yet we build them. We build them to remember what we stood for, what we believed, who we are. is that what the delay is about?

I think you may have a great point there. I don't think that we, as a nation, have yet figured out exactly what we believe or who we are now. What we stood for before, is not necessarily what we stand for now and will not be what we stand for tomorrow.

Perhaps for this very same reason the memorial will not be built as grandiose as it was originally planned.

I would hope it would not be a grandiose one in any case. Emotionally, I support the idea of rebuilding the towers as they were plus maybe 50 feet. But, personally and respectfully, I would rather see a modest memorial in the middle of a park where the towers once stood.

However, right now, anything would be better than that hole in the ground and the bureaucratic impasse that seems to be keeping it there.
