The Random Comic Strip

Words to live by...

"How beautiful it is to do nothing, and to rest afterward."

[Spanish Proverb]

Ius luxuriae publice datum est

(The right to looseness has been officially given)

"Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders," wrote Ludwig von Mises, "no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. Therefore everyone, in his own interest, must thrust himself vigorously into the intellectual battle."

Apparently, the crossword puzzle that disappeared from the blog, came back.

YABTF

The title is a new acronym. It stands for Yet Another Blog To Follow and should be pronounced "yah but if" and said fast. I coined this today in response to finding myself with 5 tabs open in Firefox and about to open another by clicking on YABTF. I expect this acronym will eventually take over the internet within a few days or be forgotten by, oh, Monday. I figure, if it catches on, there will be 200+ blogs with that in the name. But I am still betting on Gone By Monday.

I am not a trendsetter.

Ha! Too funny! And don't you just hate it ... when you have those 5 tabs open ... of blogs you might want to follow ... how everything ... EVERYTHING ... slow down. Ahhh ... this internet stuff is a lesson in patience.

Thanks for the giggle! And ... I think YABTF might just catch on.

Take Care!

Rats! Now I have to run out and copyright the term.

It will catch on with a little help. Advertise the term on Google Groups. Add the definition on Urban Dictionary.

Michael.

Wait a minute Douglas! Is this from the macro is not far removed from micro management theorist? Just delegate the new blogs to consider viewing to a subordinate, and let them filter them out for you. (Just kidding of course.)

coined by my daughter, rof-el-mau;

Neo, we must have the definition and usage.

Michael said...

rof-el-mau is the pronunciation of ROFLMAO.

An acronym AV uses quite often... Of which the first part is doable, but the second portion is physiologically impossible.

Michael.

(The word verification is 'eptiondr'.

Michael, I am ashamed to say that never occurred to me and now seems so clear and obvious.

The second portion, however, is possible in a manner of speaking. Presume that one is overweight. Then presume that one wishes to lose that weight. What better exercise than to ROFLMAO?

rof-el-mau!

Michael.

('avessist')

I have never actually hear ROFLMAO said, only typed, Neo, please thank your daughter for the enlightenment.

GRIYF - Google Reader is your friend.

(GIYF has a much better acronym meaning than Google is your friend)

Steven, you are right and the acronym GIYF doesn't convey the same emotional feel as the phrase it represents. Why is that? Sometimes, the acronym is better than the phrase (see FUBAR) and is more efficient, though.

Argentum, et al, I have changed the name of my "Blogs I Follow" gadget to "YABTF". And I have decided to changed the pronunciation to "yah-buh-tiff" with accent on the first syllable for a positive connotation and of the last syllable for a negative connotation.

Correction to my last comment: I changed it to OBTF (Ahb-Tiff) or Other Blogs To Follow.
