Today is Memorial Day. A day to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country. It is not a day to think about which wars were "good" and which were "bad". It is a day to thank all those who answered the call to duty, regardless of the cause, and gave their lives so that others might live in peace. It is a day for those of you who believe in God to pray for the souls of those who were lost in wars. It is a day for all to remember those who lost their lives in service to the nation we should hold dear. And a day to remember why those men and women were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Thank you!

Hmmm Douglas: You have "regardless of the cause" and "so that others might live in peace" in the same sentence, which suggests that all of the deaths had a goal, to achieve peace.
I'll have to think about that one longer. Doesn't register with me immediately.
Inspector - We, the US, have a unique history of wars of liberation. We do not have a history of wars of conquest. We have fought some questionable ones (the Mexican-American War, for instance) but, in general, our wars have not been waged in order to create or expand an empire. Our soldiers fight in order to win and return home. We fight in order to achieve peace. So, in that sense, the deaths did have that goal.
Amen...Love that Spanish proverb too.
